AALS Announces a Symposium: Impact, Excellence, Resilience: Contemporary Views on Pioneering Legal Education Scholarship
For over 75 years, the Journal of Legal Education has played a pivotal role in documenting the evolution of legal education in the United States. On October 8, 2025, the Journal will present a symposium at which today’s scholars will present their views on some of the most critical work that has appeared in the Journal over the preceding decades. New York Law School will host the event. A series of panel discussions will address a wide range of articles from the Journal’s archives, and in some instances, the authors of the articles being discussed will join in. The symposium complements the 2026 Annual Meeting, which will examine and reflect on the many contributions of legal education to our society and American life. Panels will be held both live and online, and the discussants’ papers, written for the symposium, will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal, which is co-hosted by the University of California, Irvine School of Law and New York Law School. The editors also plan to make recordings of each discussion available through the AALS website. A final list of participants and their contributions will be posted soon.
